Introduction to A Level Art & Design

A Level Art & Design at Sandy Secondary School is an enjoyable and stimulating programme for anyone who has a passion for drawing, painting, print making, three-dimensional work, and digital manipulation. Students work across a wide range of materials and techniques, developing their creative voice through a personal portfolio of work.

Throughout the course, you will work on a range of different skills in your work journals, developing ideas to create a personal and expressive portfolio. Working on given themes, students are encouraged to interpret them in a personal way, documenting how their ideas evolve from initial concept to finished piece. This process of exploration and experimentation is at the heart of our Art & Design programme.

The course is examined by Edexcel and combines both coursework and externally assessed components, ensuring students develop sustained creative projects alongside the ability to respond to examination briefs under timed conditions. Our teaching staff provide expert guidance, helping students refine their technical abilities while encouraging bold, individual artistic expression.
