Introduction to A Level Further Mathematics

A Level Further Mathematics at Sandy Secondary School enables students to extend their range of mathematical skills and techniques whilst understanding the coherence and progression in mathematics and how different areas of the subject are connected. Examined by Edexcel, this challenging course is designed for students with a genuine passion for mathematics who wish to deepen their understanding beyond A Level Mathematics.

All students study Pure Mathematics at a deeper level than that met in A Level Mathematics, covering matrix algebra, complex numbers, differential equations, and different coordinate systems. These topics provide the advanced mathematical foundations essential for higher-level study in mathematics, engineering, and the physical sciences.

Students may also choose to study a range of optional areas that suit their particular interests and needs, including further mechanics, statistics, additional pure mathematics, and decision mathematics. This flexibility allows students to tailor their course to support their chosen university pathways and career aspirations.
