This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to students and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education if restrictions require entire cohorts or bubbles to remain at home due to a local or national directive.
Sandy Secondary School is committed to ensuring continuity of learning during such periods. Our remote education provision is designed to maintain academic progress and support student wellbeing, utilising our established online platforms and digital resources. Teaching staff will deliver high-quality lessons, set meaningful homework, and maintain regular contact with students to monitor progress and address any concerns.
We recognise that remote learning presents unique challenges for young people and their families. Our pastoral care team remains available to support students' emotional wellbeing and resilience during these periods. Parents and carers can expect clear communication regarding timetables, expectations, and any technical support required.
For details of what to expect where individual students are required to work from home, or who are self-isolating, please see the final section of this page.
Students follow the same curriculum remotely wherever possible, with work set and accessed through Edulink. The first day or two may differ while longer-term remote teaching is prepared.
All remote work is set through Edulink using the same login as school computers. Parental logins allow you to see the work being set and support your child.
Students are expected to engage with the materials provided and follow a daily routine in line with their normal school day. We recognise that household circumstances may sometimes affect this.
Student engagement is monitored through Edulink access, with individual subject staff checking completion. Feedback takes many forms including whole-class feedback, automatically marked quizzes and online submission.
Students with special educational needs and disabilities may need additional support to access remote education. We work with parents and carers to ensure the right help is in place.
Where individual students are self-isolating while their peers remain in school, remote provision may differ. Students should complete tasks on Edulink, with lessons uploaded after they have been taught in class.
