Travel and Transport at Sandy Secondary School

Embracing a Greener Commute
At Sandy Secondary School, we're passionate about fostering a healthy, safe, and environmentally friendly travel culture for our students, staff, and the surrounding community. Our initiatives aim to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and encourage physical activity among our students.
Park & Stride: A Step Towards Healthier Commutes
Join our Park & Stride programme to make the school run more active and less congested. By parking a short distance away and walking the last part of the journey, families can enjoy the benefits of a morning walk, contributing to a cleaner, safer school environment.

Travel Options

Active Travel: Walk, Cycle, Scoot

We encourage walking, cycling, and scooting to school as great ways for students to stay active and reduce their carbon footprint. It's an opportunity for students to gain independence, learn road safety, and start the day refreshed and ready to learn.

Cycling to School

With support from cycling charities, we offer cycle training to ensure students can ride safely and confidently. Cycling not only promotes physical health but also environmental awareness and a sense of independence.

Scooting to School

Scooting is a fun, active way for younger students to travel to school. It's an excellent option for families living farther away, combining the convenience of driving with the benefits of active travel.

Sustainable Travel Plans

We're committed to developing comprehensive travel plans that support safer, more sustainable travel options. These include partnerships with local authorities and organisations to provide accessible and convenient alternatives to driving.

Your Role in Sustainable School Travel

We invite our school community to embrace these travel options and contribute to a healthier, safer, and more sustainable future for our students. Together, we can make a significant impact.
