At Sandy Secondary School, we continually review and update our catering processes to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality, with particular emphasis on allergen management. Following extensive evaluation over the past six months, we have implemented several important changes to simplify and strengthen allergen management within our catering environment.
Starting at the beginning of this academic term, we introduced a new Allergen Aware Menu. This menu has been carefully developed by our catering team in consultation with nutritionists and safeguarding specialists to remove four key allergens—peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, and shellfish—from our standard offering. This targeted approach makes mealtimes significantly safer and more accessible for students with common dietary requirements and allergies.
Our commitment to allergen management reflects our wider dedication to student wellbeing and safety. We recognise that proper nutrition supports academic achievement and personal development. All staff members have received training on allergen awareness, and our catering team maintains rigorous protocols to prevent cross-contamination. We encourage parents and students with specific dietary concerns to contact our catering department directly to discuss individual requirements and ensure we can provide appropriate meals throughout the school day.
